FSAnalytics - Data Snapshot Report

The Data Snapshot report feature maintains a list of changes that occured in the directories of FSimage. When an FSimage is processed, there can be changes in various directories. This feature compares the changes in directories that occured after the latest FSimage processed with the previous FSimage processed.

For example, if you processed FSimage on three dates, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd May, the Data Snapshot feature compares the directories of 3rd May with directories of 2nd May (the two latest available directories). If a directory is present on 3rd may, but not on 2nd may, it is considered as a newly created directory. Similarly, if a directory is present on 2nd May, but not on 3rd May, it is considered as a deleted directory. Any other change to the directory is considered as a modified directory.

If you process FS image again on 4th May, this feature then compares the directories of 4th May with the directories of 3rd May.

You can view the following type of directory changes.

  • Created: Indicates that the directory is newly created during the current FSimage processing and was not present during previous instances of FSimage processing.
  • Modified: Indicates that the directory has been modified during the current FSimage processing.
  • Deleted: Indicates that the directory has been deleted during the current iteration of FSimage processing. Apart from viewing the changes in the directories, you can also view the the date and time when the change was made to the directories and also the full path of the directory. This feature displays directory change information in a table as shown below.
