Multiple Cluster Support

More than one cluster can be configured on a single instance of Pulse with the following limitations. Configuring and deploying of mixed distributions in a single Pulse Instance is NOT SUPPORTED.

  • All the clusters must belong to a uniform distribution type. The distribution can either be HDP or CDH/CDP.

    • The distribution is based on the type of Managers used to deploy Hadoop clusters.

      • HDP/HDF are supported together as they are managed by Ambari.

      • CDH/CDP are supported together as they are managed by Cloudera.

      • For Standalone Distributions as there are no managers involved, they should be treated as separate distributions and should not be clubbed together in a Single Pulse Instance.

        For example:

        - A standalone cluster + HDP/HDF/CDH/CDP are not supported.

        - Any combination of different types standalone clusters are not supported. i.e Standalone Kafka and/or Standalone Nifi and/or Standalone Spark together are not supported.

  • All the clusters must have unique nodes configured. Nodes shared between distinct clusters will cause unexpected results in observing the clusters, hence it is NOT SUPPORTED.

  • You must configure all cluster's YARN to use the same type of scheduler. It can be either Fair, Capacity or FIFO. (FIFO is not tested).

Multiple cluster Kerberos Support

  • Multiple clusters with a single Kerberos server is supported out of the box.
  • Multiple clusters with their own individual Kerberos servers for each of the cluster is also supported with a very complex architecture and deployment strategy.
