Create an API key
This page shows you where to get the access key and secret key that the AIO Python SDK uses, and how to give that key pair to the SDK.
AIO doesn't create, show, or revoke API keys itself. You create and manage keys in the platform admin area, and AIO links you there from a project's connection info.
Open the API key page
- Go to the Projects page.
- In the row for your project, select the connection info icon.
- On the Connection info page, select Set up credentials.
The Set up credentials link opens the API key page in the platform admin area, at /ui/admin/account/auth-api/apikey on your AIO host. Create your key pair there.
The Connection info page always says that access and secret keys aren't available for the project. That's expected: AIO never shows keys on this page, so you'll always get them from the platform admin area.
Tip
While you're on the Connection info page, use Copy next to Endpoint and Project ID to get the other values the SDK needs. Copy puts the value on your clipboard but doesn't show a confirmation.
Use the key with the SDK
The SDK takes the key as two values: an access key and a secret key. Provide them in either of these ways:
- Pass them as the
access_keyandsecret_keyarguments toacceldata_aio_tracer.init(...). - Set the
AIO_ACCESS_KEYandAIO_SECRET_KEYenvironment variables.
If you set both, the arguments you pass to init take precedence over the environment variables. The SDK sends the key only when both values are set.
To set the environment variables, run the following commands. Replace the placeholder values with your own key pair.
export AIO_ACCESS_KEY="example-access-key"
export AIO_SECRET_KEY="example-secret-key"
