Manage Policies

ADOC goes beyond simply applying and monitoring policies. It also provides tools to manage, organize, and reuse policies efficiently across teams and environments.

These capabilities reduce duplication of effort, improve governance, and make it easier for business users to maintain large sets of rules.

Policy Table Reference

The Policies table includes the following columns that may need clarification:

Column

Description

Quality Score

The score from the most recent policy execution, calculated using the policy-based method.

Avg Quality Score

The average quality score across all executions in the past 30 days, calculated using the policy-based method.

Overall Status

The result of the most recent execution: Successful, Errored, Warning, Running, or Skipped. A Skipped status can occur when the policy is dependent on another rule's execution that has not yet completed. Hover over the status to view the specific reason.

Incremental Strategy

The strategy used to identify new or changed data for incremental policy runs, such as ID, DATETIME, PARTITION, or DATE PARTITIONED. Displays "-" for policies that run a Full scan. Click the strategy value to view its configuration details, including Date Column Name, Format, Offset, Time Frequency, and Round End Date.

All other columns — including Rule Count, Records Processed, Started At, Ended At, Total Execution Time, Total Executions, Schedule, Created By, and Last Updated — display their values directly without additional configuration.

Key features include:

  • Import and Export Policies: Share or reuse policies across tenants and environments.

  • Policy Groups: Bundle related policies together for easier organization and management.

  • User Defined Templates: Define custom reusable functions (business rules or transformations) once and apply them across multiple policies.

  • Deletion of Policies: To delete a policy, click the Delete icon in the Policies table. A confirmation dialog box appears where you can optionally add a reason for the deletion for audit purposes.
