xDP 1.0 is now Generally Available (GA). This release introduces the first production-ready version of the Acceldata Cross Lake Data Platform (xDP), a unified, multi-tenant platform for building, running, governing, and observing data workloads across modern lakehouse storage and Kubernetes environments.

xDP supports Spark jobs, Trino queries, Jupyter notebooks, and orchestrated pipelines through a unified platform experience.

Architecture

xDP uses a hybrid Control Plane and Data Plane architecture.

• Control Plane (managed SaaS or self-hosted) manages orchestration, metadata, and security.

• Data Planes run within customer-managed Kubernetes clusters, ensuring that data and code remain within the customer network boundary.

The following Data Plane components are available:

• xCompute – Runs Spark, Trino, Jupyter, NiFi, and Airflow workloads.

• XStore – Provides a unified catalog layer powered by Apache Gravitino.

• xCentral – Provides centralized governance and access control powered by Apache Ranger.

• Unified Catalog Layer (XStore): Manage metalakes, catalogs, schemas, tables, and filesets across lakehouse and relational sources through a single Apache Gravitino-backed catalog layer.

• Multi-Engine Compute: Deploy and manage Apache Spark, Trino, JupyterHub, Apache NiFi, and Apache Airflow on compute clusters through a unified platform interface.

• Multi-Language Development: Develop Spark applications using Python, Java, and Scala; execute SQL queries through the Trino-powered SQL Editor; and perform interactive development using Jupyter notebooks.

• Visual Pipeline Builder and Workflow Orchestration: Design multi-stage data pipelines using a visual pipeline builder and orchestrate workloads through Airflow-based scheduling and dependency management.

• Centralized Governance (xCentral): Define and manage policies, roles, and access scopes across catalogs, schemas, tables, filesets, topics, and models from a centralized interface, with policy enforcement through Apache Ranger.

• Enterprise Security: Provides Keycloak-based authentication, role-based access control (RBAC), centralized secret management, encryption, API key management, and audit logging.

• Built-In Observability: Monitor jobs, clusters, and platform health using integrated xObserve metrics.
