Important

To use the latest Pulse 4.1.8 version, you must upgrade your Docker version to 20.10.x or higher and perform the required migration steps. For more information, see Upgrade to Version 4.1.8.

This section consists of new features and enhancements introduced in this release.

  • Apache Pinot Version Compatibility: Starting with Pulse 4.1.8, observability support for Apache Pinot 1.3.0 and earlier has been discontinued. Only Apache Pinot 1.4.0 and later are supported.
  • Spark Idle Session Alert: Added a predefined alert to detect idle Spark sessions based on a configurable time threshold and automatically terminate them using the Kill Spark App action, freeing up cluster resources.
  • Enhanced Impala Query Kill Notifications: Email notifications sent when an Impala query is terminated have been enhanced to include additional query details, including the query information, user, execution time, resource pool, and the reason for query termination.   • Custom Container User ID Support: Pulse now supports running containers with a configurable Linux user ID (UID) and group ID (GID). This enhancement enables deployments to comply with organizational security policies by allowing containers to run as a custom UID/GID instead of the default 1000:1000.   • Ozone Custom Alerts: Ozone component logs are now available, allowing you to create custom log-pattern alerts for SCM, Recon, OM, and DataNode.
  • CVE Fixes: This release addresses 1473 CVEs. For details, see Fixed CVEs.

This section consists of key issues that have been fixed in this release.

  • Fixed an issue where the Pulse Oozie connector failed to close JDBC connections after SQL errors, causing excessive Oracle database sessions and Ambari Server downtime.
  • Fixed an issue where the NiFi Process Group details page in Pulse didn’t load because of a VictoriaMetrics query limit error.
  • Fixed an issue where some running and completed Tez applications showed “Application Not Found” in YARN Application Explorer.
  • Fixed an issue where installing Pulse agents stopped the existing Telegraf service and added Java 17 compatibility for the Pulse JMX JAR.
