Investigating an Alert — Alert Details

When you click on an alert from the main Alerts List, you are taken to the Alert Details page. This page offers an in-depth view of a specific alert, providing all necessary context for investigation, management, and resolution.

The page is composed of a main header with an action bar, and a body with three powerful tabs:

Header and Action Bar

The top of the page consistently displays the alert's name and the date it was raised. It also provides a universal action bar for managing the alert's lifecycle:

User Feedback:

Click the thumbs up or thumbs down icons to provide feedback on the alert's relevance.

Snooze:

Click the bell icon to temporarily disable notifications for this alert for a chosen period.

Assignee:

Assign the alert to a specific user for accountability.

Status:

Update the alert's lifecycle status

Example: from Open to In Progress.

Severity:

Change the alert's severity level.

View Monitor:

A direct link back to the specific monitor that generated this alert.

Overview Tab

The Alert Details Overview tab, shown by default, provides a summary of the alert and its impact. The content is dynamic based on the alert type.

Summary Section:

Displays key details like the associated Pipeline, the Comparison Type used and the specific Evaluation Criteria that was breached. Example: Previous Executions

Execution Summary:

For policy-based alerts, this shows more detail like the Actual / Expected Score, the number of Failed Rules, and a table of specific failures Example failed rows by column

Impacted Assets:

Lists any downstream assets that may be affected by this alert.

Related Links:

Contains direct links to relevant pages, such as the Pipeline Details page, for immediate root cause analysis.

Lineage Tab

The Lineage tab provides a visual, interactive graph centered on the data asset related to the alert. Use this graph to understand the alert's context by exploring:

Upstream Dependencies:

See what processes and data assets feed into the affected node.

Downstream Impact:

Identify the consumers and subsequent processes that might be affected by this issue.

Interactive Controls:

Use the checkboxes to toggle views like Impact Analysis, and use your mouse to zoom and pan the graph for better visibility.

History Tab

This tab provides a chronological log of every time this specific alert has been triggered in the past, which is useful for identifying recurring problems.

The table lists up to 10 past incidents and includes the following information for each occurrence:

Raised at:

The date and time the incident occurred.

Policy Score:

The score generated by the policy at that time.

Occurrence:

The number of times the incident occurred.

Closing Reason:

If applicable, the reason the past incident was closed.

Action:

A link to view the details of that specific past incident.
