Compute | Monitors

Monitors let you keep continuous watch over cost, performance, and usage conditions on your data platforms — without having to check dashboards manually. When a condition you've defined is met, ADOC raises a real-time alert so you can act before it becomes a bigger problem.

Why this matters

Cost overruns and performance issues rarely happen all at once — they build up gradually through idle warehouses, inefficient queries, or clusters that never scale down. Monitors catch these conditions as they cross a threshold you define, instead of leaving you to discover them after the fact in a monthly bill or a slow dashboard.

Use Monitors when you need to:

  • Get alerted when compute costs exceed an expected range.

  • Catch inefficient or long-running queries before they affect other workloads.

  • Detect idle warehouses or clusters that are still costing you money.

  • Track failed jobs or tasks that need attention.

Two ways to set up monitors

  1. Create a Custom Monitor – Define your own condition, using any metric available for your data source, with full control over thresholds, filters, grouping, and notification channels.

  2. Import a Stock Monitor – Choose from a library of predefined monitors, built by ADOC on commonly monitored metrics, ready to use without configuration.

You can combine both approaches — import stock monitors for common conditions and create custom monitors for anything specific to your environment.

Navigate to Compute > Monitors from the left navigation. The Monitors list shows every monitor you've created or imported, along with its status, severity, and the data source it applies to.
