HDFS Reports
The chargeback reporting capability enables you to calculate and analyze the cost of resource usage by distributing expenses across various categories. This feature helps determine who is utilizing the resources, where they are being consumed, and the corresponding cost incurred.
Monitored Resource
You can generate chargeback reports for storage usage in HDFS.
Categorization Parameters
Storage usage in HDFS can be categorized and analyzed using the following parameters:
User-Based Analysis:
- Tracks the amount of storage consumed by individual users.
- Calculates the associated cost incurred by each user, helping to identify high-usage contributors.
Path-Based Analysis:
- Monitors storage usage across specific directories.
- Enables cost calculation based on the storage utilization of different paths, facilitating a better understanding of storage consumption patterns.
Generate HDFS Report
Follow these steps to create an HDFS Chargeback report.
In the Pulse UI, navigate to Menu > Chargeback Reports, and select HDFS Report.
On the HDFS Reports page, click Create Report.
On the Create Report page, provide the following details:
- Name: Enter a name for the report.
- Storage Cost per GB: Specify the cost per GB in USD.
- Path: By default, the root directory (/) is used for analysis. However, you can enter a specific directory path to analyze.
- Groups: Use a single group parameter or combine both parameters for more granular grouping.
Click Preview to generate a report.
The preview displays the total storage used and the corresponding cost for each user and path.
Once the report is generated and saved, it appears on the HDFS Reports page, listed along with other reports and their details.
