Analyze Concurrency and Compare Data

Pulse enables you to monitor and analyze applications (jobs or queries) running simultaneously and compare two or more applications for performance insights.

Steps

1. In the Pulse UI, select YARN from the left navigation bar.
2. Click Application Explorer to view all running workloads across services such as MapReduce, Spark, Tez, Hive, Impala, etc.

The Application Explorer provides key details, including application type, status, user, resource usage, and logs.

Analyze Concurrency

1. On the Application Explorer page, click the three-dots menu next to the application.
2. Select View Concurrency.

This displays all jobs running at the same time as the selected application, helping you identify overlapping workloads and resource contention.

Compare Applications

1. On the Application Explorer page, click the three-dots menu.
2. Select Add to Compare for the applications you want to analyze.

A comparison panel opens on the right side of your screen, highlighting differences in runtime, resources, and configurations.

View Logs

1. On the Application Explorer page, click the Log icon in the Final column for a specific job.
2. Access application-specific logs to efficiently troubleshoot errors and performance issues.
